THE TRAIL

A nervous woman follows a deadly trail to a shocking conclusion.

This film was our entry for the 2020 Straight 8 film festival. The Straight 8 festival requires filmmakers to take one roll of super 8 film, shoot their movie (all editing done “in camera” and with only one take per shot!) and send it to the festival’s film lab in London where the film is processed, scanned and sent to the festival. The composer has to compose the soundtrack without seeing the film—without even an exact length—and then email it to the festival. They take the soundtrack and scanned film and align the beginnings of each file and that’s your film. If it works, it is almost miraclous—all shots have only one take, all editing/effects are done “in camera” and the composer has to compose having never seen the film!
